What you Should Know

The life  of a believer is about consistency.  We’re going to have off days.  We’re going to have days where we make bad decisions and give into temptation.  We will regress into our old habits and routines.  It’s important to see these as temporary setbacks and to continue to focus on what’s important. Your relationship with God.  When we have errors in judgement, it’s easy to fall into a condemnation trap.  Feeling that we need to sentence ourselves to self loathing or punishment because we made a wrong choice.

Jesus has already paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.  And there is no condemnation for you as a believer because you have the spirit of God inside of you.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”Romans 8:1

God's Grace and Love

You do not live according to the flesh, your sinful nature.  Because of his sprit you have life. Jesus died for our sins.  And because of this we are no longer a slave to sin.  His sacrifice has blessed us with forgiveness and a direct connection to a loving father (God) that freely gives us his love and grace.  Grace is literally defined as an underserved gift.  You can’t earn it. And remember, “God is Love. "Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. “ 1 John 4:7

As believers, we must learn to receive God’s unconditional love and grace.  It’s a difficult concept for us to understand as human beings because we tend to apply conditions to everything we do.  If you love me, then I will accept you.  If you do this or react in the way I want you to, then you have my love.  That’s not the way God works.  Paul reveals this to us in Romans 8:38 "nothing can separate us from the love of God."

What we Should Do

Our role is to receive it and continue walking towards him.  Yes, you will fall, and have a few missteps.  That’s normal, especially in your early walk as you first come to Christ.  The important part is to not dwell on your mistakes.  The recipe is simple.  Ask for forgiveness from a loving God that has your best interest at heart.  You must also learn to forgive yourself and continue to put one spiritual foot in front of the other and keep getting closer to God.  Continue to seek his presence.  The more time you spend in his presence.  The more aware you will become of the things that contaminate your spirit and weaken your faith.  Over time as you continue this daily practice of turning to God, you will begin to be transformed by his Holy Spirit.  Your desire to love and please him will overwhelm your tendency to give into temptation.

Final Thoughts

I pray that you commit and continue to purse a deeper relationship with the Lord.  I pray that he begins to move in your life and starts to show you how much he loves you. Know that he is waiting for a deeper connection with you.
